At the age of 16, Hayden Jones is the youngest route setter at Base5. His love of climbing started at the age of 7 when he became a member of Kid Rock. Having already spent more than half his life climbing & competing, with over 70 competitions to date, both above and below the 49th parallel, he knew he wanted to start setting and he had a very good idea about the type of routes he wanted to see on the wall. His love and dedication to the sport did not go unnoticed and last year he was given the opportunity to start setting with Martin Soon & Tim Catcher.

Over the last 6 months he has had the privilege of spending many a late night setting under the leadership of Kaleb Thomas. Hayden credits his new knowledge of routes, along with his countless hours of training, as a huge part of why he was able to achieve his goal of making the Canadian National Youth Team that will represent Canada at Worlds in 2015. The opportunity to climb on walls around the world can only make him a better setter and he hopes to share these experiences with climbers at Base5 through his route setting. Wish him luck as he represents Canada in Italy this August!
